Robbie Williams - Britpop (2026)

Image
I get what this album is trying to do, and I respect the commitment—but I never fully forget that it’s a construction. Britpop wears its influences loudly and proudly, sometimes so loudly that the songs feel like they’re playing roles rather than revealing anything urgent. The choruses are competent, the guitars behave, and Robbie still knows how to sell a line—but the spark feels managed rather than instinctive. What works is the professionalism. These are real songs, properly written, with clear hooks and a sense of lineage. It’s comforting in a way: classic UK pop-rock muscle memory executed by someone who’s been doing this forever. But that same confidence also flattens the risk. Nothing really surprises me, and very little feels like it had to be made. By the end, I don’t feel short-changed—I just don’t feel pulled back in. It’s an album I understand more than I feel. Solid, tidy, and occasionally fun, but a bit too aware of its own concept to ever lose itself in the moment. G...

White Reaper - Only Slightly Empty (2025)

Image
Only Slightly Empty feels like a raw, cathartic rebirth for White Reaper: stripped down yet emotionally expansive, it channels their frustrations, losses, and renewed drive all in tight, hooky rock bursts. The opening “Coma” sets the tone with distortion and urgency, while songs like “Blink” and “Honestly” balance vulnerability and grit, exploring the tension between introspection and outward energy. Despite losing their rhythm section, the band leans into creative resourcefulness—occasional electronic flourishes and layered textures hint at new directions without abandoning what listeners expect from them. The production is crisp and spacious, allowing each instrument and vocal inflection to land powerfully. In short, Only Slightly Empty is a gritty, triumphant statement: a band in transition that still delivers enough swagger and melody to feel wholly themselves again. Charly Bliss - FOREVER (2024)

Image
FOREVER marks Charly Bliss’ boldest leap into pop territory, shifting away from their earlier punk-grunge sound. The album is filled with bubbly hooks, glossy melodies, and emotional undertones. Tracks like “Tragic” and “How Do You Do It” blend punchy power pop with heartfelt lyrics, making for a nostalgic but fresh sound reminiscent of Carly Rae Jepsen’s E•MO•TION era. Despite the album’s upbeat tone, it explores themes of change, loss, and reflection, with Eva Hendricks’ signature vocals delivering both energy and vulnerability.
