Woe - Legacies of Human Frailty (2026)

Legacies of Human Frailty understands the idea of the album as a space, but executes it conservatively. The atmosphere is consistent, the pacing is patient, and the record avoids obvious filler. Nothing collapses, nothing embarrasses itself. It holds together.

What it lacks is consequence. The album sustains a mood rather than developing one. Riffs recur without enough transformation, tension rises without truly changing the emotional geometry of the record. Endurance is requested, but the reward is mostly confirmation of what was already established in the first third.

This is not playlist logic, but it flirts with stasis. The world is coherent yet shallow; you can inhabit it, but there’s little reason to return once you’ve mapped its limits. The architecture is competent, not persuasive.

A solid mid-tier black metal album: serious, controlled, and ultimately contained. It clears the bar for being an album, but never presses hard enough to justify a higher claim.
