Nitin Sawhney - Orangutan (2026)

It works exactly as it’s supposed to in context, but outside of the film it loses a lot of its weight. The music is consistently pleasant, very well produced, and clearly designed to support images rather than stand on its own.

There’s a strong sense of place, and the textures are rich, but it rarely builds tension or pushes toward something meaningful. It just flows from cue to cue without creating a real sense of direction.

I keep waiting for a theme to lock in or for the music to reach a stronger emotional peak, but it stays in a safe, controlled range the whole time.

It’s easy to listen to, but also easy to forget.

Pros

Beautiful sonic palette → rich blend of orchestral and world textures
Strong atmospheric immersion → clearly evokes nature and environment
Consistent tonal cohesion → unified emotional world throughout

Cons

Weak memorable motifs → few themes stick after listening
Limited escalation → mostly stays in a gentle, safe emotional range
Cue-based structure → lacks a compelling album-level arc
