Tipper - Cloaked (2026)
I hear the craft immediately, but it doesn’t translate into impact. Everything is intricate, constantly moving, but it never really builds into something that matters. It feels controlled rather than driven.
Each track holds my attention while it’s playing, but more because of the detail than because of where it’s going. There’s no real sense of escalation across the album, just variations of the same level of complexity. It ends up flattening the experience.
I keep waiting for something to break through — a moment that justifies all the precision — but it never fully arrives. The ideas stay contained instead of expanding into something with weight.
I respect the execution, but it doesn’t leave a mark.
Pros
Extremely high-level sound design → the detail and precision are undeniable, constantly engaging on a micro levelStrong sonic identity → the aesthetic is fully formed and immediately recognizable
Continuous internal movement → tracks never feel static, there’s always something evolving
Cons
Lack of real payoff or climax → ideas evolve but don’t resolve into impactful moments
Weak album-level direction → feels like a sequence of pieces rather than a constructed journey
Low emotional gravity → impressive technically, but doesn’t create urgency or necessity
