Tindersticks - Soft Tissue (2024)

Tindersticks' Soft Tissue is a lush and soulful return to their signature sound after the more experimental Distractions. This 14th album blends melancholic vocals with orchestral arrangements, while exploring themes of heartbreak, solitude, and emotional vulnerability. Tracks like "New World" and "Don't Walk, Run" are infused with brass and subtle funk rhythms, while "Always a Stranger" features rich orchestration that adds a cinematic touch. Staples' baritone voice, often paired with Gina Foster's soulful backing vocals, adds emotional depth, especially in the standout "Turned My Back." Though the album feels intimate and reflective, it's far from despairing, focusing instead on poetic introspection and warm, rich soundscapes(No More Workhorse)(Silent Radio)(The Wee Review).
