PILLZCASSO, the debut album from Vietnamese producer 2pillz, heralds a vibrant, genre-fluid evolution in V-pop today. The album plays like a continuous DJ mix, unfurling a breezy, beach-ready hour of dance-pop that blends UK bass, Jersey club, agbabeats, EDM, reggae, and traditional Vietnamese sounds into a cohesive, atmospheric experience—what 2pillz refers to as “lắk lành.” Traditional instruments like the bamboo xylophone (t’rưng) and lithophone (đàn đá) are woven subtly into tracks, alongside reimagined samples of classic boleros (“nhạc vàng”), giving modern pop a rooted emotional core.
