Thirst is Slow Crush’s most dynamic and finely produced album yet, blending their signature wall-of-sound shoegaze with heavier, emotionally raw elements. It opens with glitchy drones and dreamy sax flourishes (“Covet”), expanding into tracks that merge ethereal vocals with grit and tension. Production is crisp and immersive, enhancing both the fragility of the performances and the heft of their riffs. The album balances beautiful melancholy with moments of rough vulnerability—especially in tracks like “Hollow” and closer “Hlýtt,” which tip into blackgaze territory. Altogether, Thirst reaffirms Slow Crush’s evolution: heavier, more expressive, and fully in control of their expansive sound.
