Fickle Friends - Fickle Friends (2025)

This self-titled album finds Fickle Friends returning to centre stage with a clear sense of intention: after a hiatus and reflection, they’ve created what they describe as “the most authentic we’ve ever been.”  The band self-produced and self-released the record, which gives it a DIY edge and personal tone, even if some production moments feel less polished than their previous major label work.  Sonically, the album oscillates between bright, shimmering dance-pop (“Joe”, “Wow”) and more introspective takes (“Dream”, “Happier”), showing growth while retaining their melodic identity.  While some critics feel the band has not pushed as hard as their peers in evolution, the album succeeds in capturing a moment of rediscovery and renewed joy in creativity.  Overall, for fans of upbeat, emotionally-conscious indie pop, the album offers both comfort in its familiar sound and freshness in its renewed sincerity.
