Hatchie - Liquorice (2025)

Liquorice sees Hatchie stepping into a richer, more emotionally nuanced terrain—her signature shimmer remains, but it’s layered now with longing, ambivalence and complexity.
The production leans into shoegaze guitar washes, synth flourishes and gliding melodies—moving beyond the sugary hooks of her earlier work and embracing texture and depth.
Lyrically, the album explores the bittersweet side of love, obsession and self-discovery: sweet, salty and slightly twisted, much like the candy its title references.
Though the sound retains pop accessibility, there’s greater patience and space in these songs—moments of breath and atmosphere rather than constant immediate hook.
In sum, Liquorice stands out as Hatchie’s most mature record yet—inviting listeners not only to dream, but to feel the shadows behind the glow.
