Ella Langley - Dandelion (2026)
This works more than it misses. I feel a real sense of direction here — not just in the writing, but in how the album holds together emotionally. It’s not just a collection of songs; there’s a perspective that carries through.
What makes the difference at this level is that some moments actually land. When the choruses open up or the emotion sharpens, it sticks. It’s not constant, but it happens enough that I come away remembering parts of it instead of just the general mood.
It still doesn’t fully break through. The album doesn’t push its dynamics far enough, and over the full length, it starts to level out. I don’t feel that one defining surge that would elevate it higher.
But compared to a mid-60s record, this feels more resolved. There’s enough identity, enough payoff, and enough emotional clarity that I stay engaged — even if I’m not completely pulled in.
Pros
Convincing emotional delivery → the writing feels lived-in and actually carries weight across multiple tracksClear and emerging identity → strong Southern/country voice that doesn’t feel generic or interchangeable
Several real payoff moments → enough choruses and emotional peaks that do land and stick
Cons
Not consistently high lift → the strongest moments aren’t sustained across the full runtime
Moderate escalation only → the album improves over time but never fully surges
Length slightly dilutes impact → a tighter tracklist would sharpen the strongest material
