Kneecap - Fenian (2026)

It hits hard at first because of the energy and conviction. There’s no hesitation in the delivery — everything feels direct and intentional. The identity is clear, and the sound has enough edge to stand out immediately.

But after a few tracks, it starts to plateau. The intensity doesn’t really evolve, it just continues. Instead of building toward something, it feels like it’s maintaining the same level the whole time. That makes the album feel flatter than it should, given how strong the starting point is.

The production helps keep things moving, but it’s mostly reinforcing the same energy rather than shaping progression. I don’t get those moments where the album locks into a bigger payoff or shift.

There’s enough here to respect and come back to in parts, but as a full listen, it doesn’t quite develop into something fully satisfying.

Pros

Strong conviction and presence → the delivery feels committed and carries real attitude
Distinct sonic blend → the rave/rap hybrid gives the album a recognizable energy profile
Moments of thematic weight → political and cultural angles add depth beyond surface-level aggression

Cons

Lack of escalation across the album → intensity stays high but rarely builds into something bigger
Hooks don’t function structurally → very few moments act as anchors or payoff points
Energy becomes uniform → constant aggression reduces contrast and long-term impact
