Yuksek - MATA (2026)
I can hear the craftsmanship immediately. The production is elegant, the grooves are smooth, and the whole record has a warmth that's becoming increasingly rare in electronic music. Nothing sounds cheap or careless.
The problem is that after a few tracks, I feel like I've already heard most of what the album has to offer. It keeps refining the same atmosphere instead of pushing it somewhere. New tracks arrive, but the stakes don't really change. The experience becomes comfortable rather than compelling.
I also struggle to find moments that genuinely stick. The album flows well, but flow alone isn't enough for me. I need peaks, tension, some sense of arrival. Here, everything is pleasant, but very little feels necessary.
By the end, I admire the taste behind it more than the music itself. It's a well-made environment, but not one that leaves a lasting mark. A few years from now, I suspect I'll remember the vibe of the record far more than any specific track on it.
Pros
Warm and inviting sound palette → the record is consistently pleasant and easy to spend time withProfessional production throughout → everything is polished, balanced and well-crafted
Clear stylistic coherence → it knows exactly what it wants to be and never loses its identity
Cons
Almost no real escalation → the album establishes a mood early and stays there
Lack of memorable anchors → few melodies, grooves or moments remain once it's over
Atmosphere replaces necessity → it feels tasteful rather than essential
