Acid Arab - Resonance (2026)

Acid Arab still has one of the most distinctive identities in contemporary electronic music. The blend of acid house with Middle Eastern and North African musical traditions feels genuine rather than superficial, and the album immediately establishes a warm, immersive atmosphere. The percussion is lively, the vocal collaborations add character, and the production is consistently refined without becoming overly polished.

After a strong opening stretch, though, the record starts relying on its formula instead of developing it. The grooves remain enjoyable, but they rarely evolve into moments that genuinely surprise or elevate the experience. I keep waiting for tracks that break the pattern or deliver a real emotional or structural payoff, yet the album mostly stays within the same comfortable framework.

The result is an album I enjoy while it's playing more than one I actively think about afterwards. Its craftsmanship is undeniable, and its cultural fusion remains compelling, but the songwriting doesn't always match the quality of the production. Instead of building toward something unforgettable, it settles into a sustained mood that is pleasant, tasteful and well executed, yet ultimately a little too consistent to leave a lasting impression.

pros

  • The fusion of Arabic musical traditions and electronic music gives the album a strong and recognizable identity.
  • The grooves remain steady and engaging throughout most of the record.
  • The production is polished, spacious and rich in rhythmic detail.

cons

  • The album settles into a comfortable formula and rarely raises the emotional stakes.
  • Too many tracks blur together because they share similar tempos and structures.
  • The melodies support the atmosphere more than they create memorable highlights.
