Trashcan Sinatras - Ever The Optimist (2026)

Ever The Optimist is pleasant, polished and full of the melodic craftsmanship you expect from Trashcan Sinatras. The guitars are warm, the harmonies elegant and there are a few genuinely beautiful moments.

Unfortunately, it is also far too comfortable. Most songs drift by without leaving much of an impression, the tempos rarely change and there is very little here that feels necessary after such a long absence. Nothing is really bad, but very little makes me want to come back either.

A perfectly competent indie-pop album that ultimately feels more reassuring than exciting.

Pros
Elegant melodies and harmonies
Warm, polished production
Consistently pleasant songwriting

Cons
Far too safe
Very few memorable songs
Lacks energy and surprise
