Jack White - Frozen Charlotte (2026)
I appreciate the raw energy and the commitment to keeping everything loose and unpolished, but after the initial excitement fades, I struggle to find many songs that stay with me. The riffs have plenty of bite, yet too often they replace memorable songwriting instead of supporting it. The record leans heavily on Jack White's established persona, and rather than feeling urgent or inspired, much of it comes across as another variation on ideas he's explored more convincingly before. The performances remain solid throughout, but the album rarely develops emotionally or surprises me once its formula is established. By the end, I admire the craftsmanship more than I actually want to revisit it, and outside of a few standout moments, it feels like a record that settles for familiar garage-rock intensity instead of offering a compelling new chapter.
Pros
Maintains a raw, energetic live-band sound.Delivers confident guitar performances.
Preserves Jack White's distinctive musical personality.
Cons
Relies on familiar songwriting throughout.Lacks memorable hooks and emotional payoff.
Becomes repetitive and offers little reason to return.
