Miranda Lambert - Crisco (2026)
This is polished, melodic and easy to listen to, but a little too smooth for me.
The retro country-pop and disco production works well. The strings, soft synths and pedal steel give the album a clear identity without making it feel like a stylistic exercise.
“Sunset Marquis” is my favourite. It has the best atmosphere on the album and feels slightly more ambitious than most of the other songs.
“Two Things Can Be True” is another strong track because the arrangement gives the melancholy some space, while “A Song To Sing” works well as a duet without becoming oversized.
The problem is that the album often stays in the same emotional and rhythmic zone. The production is elegant, but it smooths out some of the tension and character I usually want from Miranda Lambert.
There are several good songs here, just not many that really stay with me afterwards.
