Man/Woman/Chainsaw - Cannonball (2026)
Cannoball is ambitious, restless and technically impressive, but far less convincing as a collection of songs. Man/Woman/Chainsaw constantly throw strings, noise, tempo changes and dramatic crescendos into the mix, yet too often the arrangements feel more memorable than the melodies underneath them.
“Nosedive” shows how good they can be when all that energy is focused, but much of the album feels overworked rather than genuinely adventurous. The Black Country, New Road / black midi influence is also difficult to ignore, and the band still lacks a strong enough identity to make the excess feel fully justified.
There is obvious talent here, but Cannonball sounds more like a promising band trying to prove everything at once than a great debut.
