Tara Clerkin Trio - Somewhere Good (2026)
Somewhere Good is tasteful, detailed and beautifully produced, but its restraint too often turns into inertia. Tara Clerkin Trio have a clear sonic identity — dub bass, soft electronics, jazz-inflected instrumentation and hazy vocals — yet the album rarely pushes those ingredients toward anything truly striking.
The title track is the strongest moment, and there are plenty of subtle production details to admire, but several songs simply drift by without enough melodic or emotional weight. The atmosphere is consistent, perhaps too consistent, and the record can feel more like an elegant mood piece than a collection of genuinely memorable songs.
Interesting, well made, and easy to respect. Much harder to love.
